School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

Performance is a central component of every student's education at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the Ensemble Showcases are where faculty-led student groups showcase their talent and creativity.

Led by Valery Ponomarev the Art Blakey Ensemble is an in-depth study of the repertory and performance traditions of Art Blakey. The original recordings will be studied, and the students will work toward developing good playing style in an ensemble devoted to Blakey’s work.
