Student Recital by Finnean Hargesheimer-Carroll

Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

Finn Carroll will present a set of timeless standards and new, original pieces including a play accompanied by a large
ensemble, dubbed Finn Carroll’s “Big Style”. The recital will begin with solo bass, adding additional musicians until the
culmination of the set with Carroll’s new, original piece The Firefighter’s Opera, combining a scored script, visual art, and fiery improvisations from some of the most exciting young improvisors in New York City.

Finn Carroll’s compositional styles owes as much to the great jazz tradition of swing and bop as it does to the avante-garde and artistic mediums such as abstract/expressionist paintings and Sci-Fi literature. This unique set of music will feature original interpretations of jazz standards and original music played by some of the best musicians at New School.
