Student Recital by Anna Matsuoka

Anna Matsuoka began her piano studies at the age of two and half and began composing at age four in Tokyo, Japan. She won many competitions in classical music including the Chinese Consulate in Osaka Award and 1st place at the 15th Choko Cup International Music Competition. After 20 years of classical piano studies, including at the Juilliard School, she redirected from classical music to jazz, and has attended the New School for the past two and a half years after being awarded a scholarship.

Now, Anna devotes an active performance career in various music genres, such as classical music, jazz, funk, and pops. She says, "I want to make a new attractive sound by incorporating my classical music experience into jazz and want to let the audience enjoy that.”
